The throttle actuator is a common problem for all M3 vehicles with the S65 engine and E6X M5/M6 with the S85 engine. Undoubtedly, German engineering is considered the benchmark for combining design and functionality, but even the best of us make mistakes. The Throttle Actuator design has been a disaster from day one. Every single OEM unit will fail sooner than later. The failure rate of OEM units is 100%. Albeit it is not catastrophic, going into limp mode is never fun. Failure of the throttle actuator will cause the engine to go into ‘limp mode’ with the DSC and EML light illuminated on the instrument cluster. The common faults codes are: ‘2B15 – Throttle Valve Actuator Bank 1′ & 2B16 – Throttle Valve Actuator Bank 2’.

Being the 3rd owner of an M3 always leaves you guessing about how a car is vs should be performing. One of the items on my list was to replace the throttle actuators as a precautionary measure, and I did not realize how bad the OE ones on my car were until I installed these.
These actuators (I bought 2x of them, price is for just 1 in the listing at the time I'm reviewing this) came in really quick and installed into the OEM spots without issue. The car feels much peppier. I did have to get a replacement actuator but the company sent it out as soon as they could. They were also in contact with me the entire time and ensured everything was working as it should once it arrived. 5/5 stars!
