After more than a decade of S85 ownership and too many injector failures — many ending in catastrophic engine damage — we built this kit to fix a long-standing weak point in the fuel system. BMW put a filter in the tank, but it isn't enough: even owners who replace it on schedule still see costly failures.
The problem
The S85's single-stage filtration leaves the injectors exposed to microscopic debris. A clogged or damaged injector can misfire or fail outright, risking a lean condition and engine destruction.
The solution
We consulted fuel-system and fuel-injection specialists across Michigan, and the conclusion was consistent: the S85 needs post-pump filtration. The answer is a 10-micron inline filter — fine enough to catch harmful particles before they reach the injectors, free-flowing enough to hold performance. It's a proven approach: the 2009-2013 Corvette ZR1 shares the same single-filter design and relies on a post-pump auxiliary filter for exactly this reason. We engineered ours to work with the OEM S85 fuel lines.
Key features:
- 10-micron filtration: uses an easily replaceable Earls filter element, widely available
- Sensor-post housing: low-pressure sensor sits after the filter, so the DME reads accurate fuel pressure
- OEM fitment: works with the factory fuel lines; secure fit, straightforward install
- Prevents injector sticking: removes the debris that causes stuck injectors and engine failure
- Ethanol-compatible: handles E10 and ethanol-blended fuel the factory filter was not built for
- Made in USA: precision-machined
- DIY-friendly: plug-and-play install for most skill levels
Fits: E6X M5/M6 (S85)
