An inherent problem with both the S65 and S85 engine is the integrated fuel filter that is not serviceable within the fuel tank. To replace your “fuel filter” you need to have a special tool to remove the fuel hat - as well as spend over $500.00 to replace the whole assembly including the pump. Not to mention the annoyance of having to remove your rear interior.

A stuck injector issue is common, and it’s totally fair to say that it’s probably the 2nd biggest problem after the rod bearing issue. These are problems that can completely wipe your motor out.

A stuck injector also washes the oil film away from your cylinder wall and allows the piston rings to destroy the cylinder wall. It’s not unheard of to see 30psi in a cylinder that had the stuck injector if driven on.

Ultrasonic cleaning your injectors won’t prevent this. The issue is caused by the integrated “lifetime” filter allowing big particles to pass through. Pre-pump fuel filters are usually in the 60-100 micron range to protect the fuel pump, many high-performance injector companies recommend at least a 10-micron filter post-fuel pump, but the E9X chassis does not have an inline fuel filter after the fuel pump.

Until now: Introducing the Fuel Filter Kit for the S65 and S85 Engines.

Details:

  • 10 microns user serviceable fuel filter
  • Billet Aluminum Filter Housing (Black Anodized)
  • Compatible with E85
  • Easy DIY solution that takes less than 20 minutes
  • Fire sleeve included to prevent abrasion on OEM rubber fuel line
