Why should I upgrade my BMW’s power steering reservoir?
Most BMW owners experience overflow or leaks with the stock plastic reservoir, especially under hard or track driving. Our billet aluminum design boosts fluid capacity, prevents overflow with a specialized cap, and uses higher-grade materials that withstand heat and pressure. This means fewer leaks, improved steering performance, and longer component life.
Which BMW models are compatible with the power steering reservoir?
Our reservoir is engineered to fit a wide range of BMW models, including the E9x M3, E39 M5, and E6x M5/M6, among others. It’s designed to integrate seamlessly using AN ORB fittings and includes all necessary hardware for a straightforward installation. If you drive a modern BMW M car or other high-performance model, it’s likely compatible.
How does our reservoir prevent power steering overflow?
We designed a patent-pending cap and increased the reservoir’s overall capacity by 180mL over OEM. This extra volume accommodates fluid expansion under high-heat, high-load conditions—exactly when most overflows happen. The result is a spill-proof setup that keeps fluid where it belongs and off your engine bay.
What is the reservoir made of, and why does it matter?
Each reservoir is CNC-machined from 6061 T6 billet aluminum, known for its strength, heat tolerance, and durability. Unlike plastic tanks that can warp or fail over time, billet aluminum stands up to extreme temperatures and pressures, making it ideal for track driving or daily performance use.
Is installation difficult? Do I need special fittings or hoses?
The reservoir comes with high-quality AN ORB fittings designed to match OEM or upgraded hoses without special modifications. Most capable DIYers can install it in about an hour, and professional shops find it straightforward as well.
Does the reservoir include a filter, and how do I maintain it?
Yes. We’ve integrated a user-serviceable filter to capture debris before it circulates through your steering system. Maintenance is simple: remove, clean, or replace the filter at recommended intervals for optimal steering performance and longevity.
